MyCIF SUPPORT TO SMES

In an effort to support Malaysian startups and SMEs, the Malaysian Co-investment Fund (MyCIF) established by the Securities Commission Malaysia, has been allocated an additional RM 30 million for ECF platforms under Belanjawan 2021.

MYCIF CO-INVESTMENT CRITERIA

  • MyCIF is available to all companies which meet the listing requirements to raise funds via Equity Crowdfunding ("ECF").

  • MyCIF will co-invest in ECF campaigns based on a 1:4 ratio, meaning MyCIF will co-invest RM1 for every RM4 successfully raised from the crowd/public/private investors.

  • MyCIF's maximum co-investment in each ECF campaign is limited to RM1,000,000 per campaign.

  • In the event the ECF campaign exceeds 50% of its initial investment target, MyCIF may consider reducing the co-investment percentage.

MYCIF KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Public-private partnership mechanism for risk capital financing and to reduce future government commitments.

  • More efficient and visible channel to disburse government grants to SMEs by leveraging on registered crowdfunding platforms.

  • Shared responsibility model through crowd-sourced financing to develop SMEs.

  • To grow the Malaysian market-based financing industry and reduce the financing gap in the SME sector.
