Musang Valley Agro is a leading integrated plantation company with a vision to become Asia’s largest supply chain plantation company while continuously advancing our business growth as a global enterprise with strong roots in the ASEAN region.
By building a green, modernized urban system, we aim to give back to the local community by providing consumers with safe and high-quality produce and food with the integration of quality resources.
Our Vision
To become Asia's largest supply chain plantation company while continuously advancing our business growth as a global enterprise with strong roots in the ASEAN region.
Our Mission
• To provide consumers with safe and high-quality produce and food with the integration of quality resources.
• To accelerate our brand and business growth by harnessing the power of data and digitalization.
We are a smart farming agricultural team that utilize both hardware, software and data analytics in planting our durian plantation. We will carry out tree profiling and tagging on each Durian tree so that each of our durian tree will have their own identity number following with their coordinate on the map, their age, and their status.
Every single action and process on the tree will be tracked. We will be notified once there is any abnormal status in the tree and action can be taken in time to prevent further loss. Besides, with all the data, actionable insight can be drawn to maximize productivity and minimize cost.
The above image shows all the Durian tree identification and their location on the map. This is a 2,700-acres land and each acre of land are planted with 30 Durian trees. Each tree will have its own coordinate and all this data are accessible through the software.
Compared to other smart farming in Malaysia, we are more specialized in utilizing technology in plantation. The current technology used in Malaysia farming industry are limited to only water, soil and fertilization tracking.
However, our resources invested in smart farming are not bound by this limitation. We are able to track not only water, soil and fertilization but also the quality of each durian and the health status of each Durian tree.
Why Smart Farming?
Reduce Cost
The cost is mainly spent on labour when harvesting the fruits. After implementing smart harvesting, we can use robots to harvest the fruits automatically instead of manual labour.
Increase Productivity
Smart harvest technologies offer better insight into the crops to identify and relay the harvest potential to the farmers, leading to an increase in productivity.
Fruits Prediction
Smart system has the ability to foresee production results. This allows company to plan for better product distribution and better control over the internal processes.
MVA has utilized smart farming and installed advanced technology, IoT, on 2,700 acres of soil to reduce the waste of water, food, fertilizer, and pesticides. The company also has an efficient traceability system that records information and data throughout the entire process to ensure product quality and safety.
IoT track every single durian allowed us to perform attendance & performance control, field inspection & tree health control, water management control, fertilizer application control and pest & disease control.
With IoT, we are able to maximize the productivity of each durian and generate the greatest amount of value from our investment.
Chain traceability and internal traceability In MVA manufacturing processes,we able to collect and manage information regarding what has been done in manufacturing processes from acceptance of raw materials and parts to shipment of products.
With the help of IoT, we are also able to accurately pinpoint the harvesting period of each durian tree to prevent any wastage. Besides, we can identify and sperate the durian according to their grade. This help to smoothen the distribution process and also allowed accurate accounting and reporting on the revenue generated.
Durian is the king of fruits, and it is also the most expensive fruit in Malaysia. As compared to other plantations, Musang king can generate up to RM155,250 of value per hectare. Musang King brings 3,880% more revenue as compared to rubber plantations. Hence, by planting Musang king, we can maximize the productivity of this big land acquired.
Besides, the market of Durian is very big. Our neighbours, Singapore itself has traded more than 16 million KG of durian in the year 2020. China also contributes more than 8 million KG of durian trade in the year 2020. We can see that the demand for durian is very big and there is a lot of opportunity in the Durian market.
The price of Malaysia’s Musang King Durian is increasing non-stop starting year 2016 from RM 15 – RM 30 per KG to RM 35 – RM 65 per KG in year 2020. The price of Musang King has 57% doubled in just 5 years period. Who can imagine how much a KG of Musang King might cost in another 5 years period?
Exports of Durian from Malaysia also increase by 32.2% from year 2018 to year 2019. China Durian import also increased tremendously starting from year 2010. The Durian import of China has an increment of 350% in metric tons and a 1000% in US dollar.
Besides, Malaysia also granted approval to import nitrogen whole fruit durian into China, result in a 30% soar in durian farm prices.
Malaysia is also projected to increase the production of durian to 443,000 ton by 2030 with an annual growth rate of 4%. The premium durian will consist of 28% of total production. The export target is 22,000 ton by 2030 of which 6,000 ton (27%) is premium durian.
Supply Chain Business Process
Following the concept of "sow seeds of success for the next generation to enjoy - starting with planting", MVA has established a whole supply chain business model: from a variety of selection and breeding, plantation management, sorting and processing, to cold chain logistics and online marketing, to produce and deliver safe and high-quality products for consumers.
Globalization
MVA aims to reach into quality plantation production areas worldwide, starting from ASEAN countries, to continuously provide consumers with fresh agricultural products and high-quality food all year round, while introducing advanced technologies and management models into overseas agriculture and food fields, committed to making MVA a leading brand in the modern agriculture industry in Malaysia.
Full Traceability
MVA has established a full traceability system from the start of the journey to the point of export sales, with quality standards, operational specifications, a quality control system with requirements and responsibilities at every step of the way, and detailed records of the whole process to ensure product quality and safety.
Before implement the IoT technology, each tree is only able to produce up to 100 durian and the proportion of Grade A only consist of 20%. However, each tree is able to produce up to 180 durian and the proportion of Grade A can be increased to 50%. Each tree can generate 218% more revenue by using the IoT in smart farming.
